Chiara Fonio

Head of Social innovation

Chiara holds a PhD in Sociology and Social Research Methods from the Catholic University of Milan (IT). She has successfully completed many EU-funded research projects revolving around surveillance, security and innovation in crisis management. She has gained an in-depth knowledge and extensive experience of research requirements at different levels: from scientific coordination to delivering actionable outputs. She worked both in academia (VU, Amsterdam) and at high policy level in the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission. She has published in peer-reviewed journals and edited several books.
At ICONS, she is Head of social innovation, working on social engagement strategies, on the development of KPIs and on the monitoring and assessment of engagement activities in EU-funded projects.
