Junior officer
Maria Luna holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political, Social and International Sciences from Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna and a Master’s degree in International Development Studies, with a specialisation in Inclusive Innovation, Communication and Development, from Wageningen University & Research. During her studies, she conducted field research with NoCap on ethical supply chains and migrant labour exploitation in Italy, and completed a research internship at EkoRural in Ecuador, focusing on food systems transformation.
Over the past few years, she worked as Project & Communications Lead at the Impact Economy Foundation in Amsterdam, coordinating communication activities and leading the 2100 Movement for the Impact Economy, and as Campaigns Officer at Compassion in World Farming in Bologna, where she led advocacy campaigns on animal welfare and sustainable food systems.
Through her academic and professional experiences, she developed strong skills in research, strategic communication, stakeholder engagement and project coordination.
She joined ICONS in February 2026 and is currently working as a Communication and Outreach Junior Officer.
