EU’s zero pollution ambition – Best practice in science communication panel discussion hosted by ICONS, leading organisation in science communication, social and business innovation, has the aim to explore how good communication can boost the European zero pollution action plan.

During the event, communication experts will show how to engage media, policy makers and citizens exploring best practices and case histories. Leveraging on good communication performed at different level and tailored according to the different target are indeed the key to support the strategy of the European Green Deal.

The speakers:

Jacopo Pasotti is an award-winning environmental journalist, photographer and writer. His work focuses on environmental and social reporting, in particular on reporting from the field. He reported across Asia, Europe, North and South America, as well as the Arctic and Antarctica. His contributions have been published on National Geographic, GEO, Repubblica, Vanity Fair, El Pais, Deutsche Welle, Die Zeit, and Science. He lectures on science and environmental reporting.

Rach Colling is Head of Communications at the European Forest Institute. Rach joined EFI in 2011, and has been responsible for the development of EFI’s policy support communications, as well as managing and developing digital communications tools. She has over 20 years’ experience in science communication, and prior to joining EFI ran a successful communications business working with UK government agencies and universities. Before that, Rach worked for BBC News Online as a journalist, as well as in communications/marketing for various UK universities. She has a masters’ degree in international relations from Cambridge University and trained as a journalist in the UK.

Veronica Meneghello is Project Manager at ICONS. Veronica holds a master’s degree in CSR from Bicocca University and an MSc in environmental economics from the University of Turin. Previously she graduated in translation at the University of Modern Languages in Milan. She has been working as project coordinator for national and international projects on sustainability and communication since 2013. She has specific expertise in management of natural resources, sustainability, and communication. She is currently in charge of project management and communication activities of several EU-funded projects, in addition to being the CSR manager for ICONS.

Loredana Pianta is editorial manager at ICONS. She has more than fifteen-years long experience as a TV journalist, reporting stories and going live for news. She also freelances as a video journalist for Lyon-based Euronews, London-based Associated Press Television News, SNTV-Sports News Television, La7 and for many others. She also works as a “one-man-band” reporter, producing, shooting and editing her stories. In 2005 she won the Saint Vincent Journalism Award for the best TV news story. She graduated with a first-class honors degree in Ancient Letters from the University of Turin in 2005.
