Gemma Longoni began to play the violin at the age of 5. She graduated from the conservatory G. Verdi in Milan in October 2010 and completed the master in 2012 with highest honours under the guidance of Cinzia Barbagelata.

From 2013 to 2015, she lived in Basel, where she completed the master in baroque violin under the guidance of Amandine Beyer and Leila Schayegh at Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. She took part in several projects with Sigiswald Kuijken and Rinaldo Alessandrini, playing in a quartet with K. Bezuidenhout.

She has been a member of EUBO in the years 2011 and 2012, holding also the position of concertmaster and section leader. She is currently member of the Geneva-based orchestra Geneva Camerata (GECA).

Since 2019 she has been working at Theresia Orchestra and Concerto Theresia as concertmaster and tutor for the string section.

She made recordings for EMI Classic, Amadeus, Deutsche Harmonia Mundi and Sony Classical.
